On the voyage to America, the Kapp family traveled on the ship the Francis B. Cutting from Antwerp to New York. They left port in Antwerp on January 10, 1855 and arrived in New York on March 1, 1855.  Nine of the deported families of Scherzheim traveled on this ship.

Passenger records state that they brought "2 Chests of Wearing Apparel" and occupied 1 bed on the journey.  On the Passanger list, their surname is spelled "Knapp".
